When our house suffered a fire our insurance company (State Farm) recommended PDR as a "Premier Service Provider" (preferred vendor). PDR estimated 8 months to complete the repairs, it took them over a year".
Following completion of their repairs we returned to the house/. Since then we have discovered numerous code violations that are hard to see or hidden by other work?. Some of the code violations include installing trusses not in accordance with the approved plans, cutting the top chord of truss to as little as 2x2, installing improper hurricane straps or reusing damaged straps, and installing wrong ceiling board throughout the house just to name a few:. We continue to find hidden violation such as just recently we discovered that our front porch is missing the 4x4s and the columns are not connected to either the roofing system or the foundation of the house/.
In addition to the code violations we have also discovered numerous cases of not using materials charged for in the estimate/. For example we were charged for 40 year shingles and 30 year shingles were installed instead and we were charged for 5/8” sheetrock for our ceiling but 1/2" was installed (which is also a code violation) and charging for foam board insulation (as called for in the approved plans) but installed foil instead:.
Finally we have discovered additional overcharges such as claiming $15,000 in the estimate for a screened lanai that only cost $7,500 and $4,800 for engineering services that were actually less than $2,000|.
